Rose Florence Wilson (née Scalise), 96, passed away on 1/1/2024. Rose was born 8/5/1927 in Denver, CO to Carmen and Della Scalise (née Belfiore). Rose attended North High School and graduated in 1945. In the midst of raising her 6 children, at age 39 she began her career as a medical secretary at the University of Colorado Health Sciences where she worked for 21 years until her retirement in 1987.
In 1948 Rose married her high school sweetheart Herbert C. Wilson, who preceded her in death on August 6, 2017, one day after Rose’s 90th birthday. They were married for 68 years and enjoyed music and singing, regularly attending the Santa Fe Opera. They lived together in Park Hill for 62 years and were kind and friendly neighbors. Rose passed away at home after living there for over 68 years. Her home and flower garden were major points of pride and the center of their family life. Herb and Rose raised 6 kids on Forest St. Rose was the loving mother of Karen, Chris, Lynne, Mary (Matthew Kosmicki) Nancy (Steve Nicol) and Orlanda (Mary Gerber). She was the proud Grandma Ziggity Zee of 7 grandchildren Natalie, David, Lily, Max, Iris (Mike Miceli), Nicolas and Gus. Rose was an expectant great-grandmother of Iris’s first child due in June of 2024.
Rose was a devoted family woman, she was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and grandmother who made all her loved ones feel special and welcome. Her love for her family was spirited and her vivacious personality made her a generous host, always ready to share in a fresh cup of coffee. She rarely let anyone else do the dishes, wanting her family to continue gathering and visiting together. Her magnanimous and passionate demeanor meant she was often found either laughing, singing, winking or cursing. She taught her family the value of beautiful home cooked meals, togetherness, unconditional love, and education. She truly loved her family and was extremely proud of her kids and grandkids.
She is survived by her sister Carol Patnoi (Dave Moir) and preceded in death by her siblings Kaye Raggazino, Adeline Lutz, Lori Nugen and Frank Scalise. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and an extended family that adored her.
